DevOps Engineer (Contractor)

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our growing Software Engineering practice. This is a client-facing, consultative role for someone who enjoys building modern cloud infrastructure, automating software delivery, and helping organizations improve the speed, reliability, and scalability of their development environments.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with software engineers, architects, and client stakeholders to design and implement DevOps solutions that enable continuous delivery, infrastructure automation, and resilient cloud-native applications.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines that enable reliable, automated software delivery
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and automation tools
• Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment processes, application reliability, and operational efficiency
• Develop automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting languages to streamline infrastructure and deployment workflows
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and modern orchestration platforms
• Monitor application and infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for availability, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in infrastructure design discussions with a focus on automation, security, resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational excellence
• Support cloud environments across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
• Implement configuration management and infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar technologies
• Partner with client stakeholders to understand technical requirements and deliver scalable DevOps solutions aligned with business objectives
• Contribute to DevOps best practices, reusable automation assets, and continuous improvement initiatives across the practice
• Participate in production support and operational troubleshooting as needed

What You Bring

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related infrastructure role
• Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or similar tools
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or another automation language
• Experience working with Microsoft technologies and cloud platforms, with Azure experience preferred
• Understanding of cloud networking, load balancing, certificates, identity management, and application security
• Familiarity with microservices architectures and distributed systems
• Experience monitoring production environments using modern observability and monitoring platforms
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical documentation skills
• Experience working within Agile development teams
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Amazon EKS, or Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
• Experience with IIS, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Java, or other modern application platforms
• Experience with GitOps workflows and deployment tools such as Argo CD or Flux
• Experience with configuration management platforms such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Splunk
• Experience working with enterprise-scale distributed systems
• Microsoft Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or other cloud certifications
