Business Analyst, Financial Services

As part of our Project Delivery team, our Business Analysts are instrumental in identifying stakeholders and unraveling key business needs, all while solving the complex business problems. Our Business Analysts are responsible for gathering requirements, establishing priorities and phases, making solution recommendations, etc. all while managing client needs and expectations.

If that sounds like the type of career you’re looking to move into, here’s a bit more about what you’ll do as a Business Analyst at RBA:

  • Facilitate client discussions, exploring where a business is today and where it needs to be in the future to attain its vision – breaking down objectives or goals into manageable pieces that can be achieved via the suggested solution.
  • Responsible for the elicitation, clarification, analysis, and documentation of business, stakeholder, solution, functional and non-functional requirements through a variety of methods, including: stakeholder interviews, cross-functional sessions, JAD workshops, etc.
  • Responsible for creating artifacts needed to support the communication of requirements to stakeholders and downstream teams such as development and QA; these include current state assessments, process flow and use case diagrams, requirements traceability matrices, etc.
  • Develop acceptance criteria for scoped efforts to ensure development and test processes can successfully execute.
  • Assist Product Owners to continuously manage scope aligned to objectives, budgets and schedules.
  • Be an evangelist for the solution and demonstrate its features and capabilities in a positive light, both in internal and external settings.
  • Translate technical jargon into common business speak, competently speaking to how different solutions can affect a company’s revenue, processes, etc.
  • Contribute towards the project management planning efforts relating to business analysts’ activities, including identification of standard and non-standard tasks for specific types of analysis work and estimation of effort and duration for identified tasks
  • Flexible and able to apply business analyst techniques appropriately according to the project delivery methodology (i.e. Waterfall, Agile, etc.).

Required Experience / Knowledge

  • 2+ years experience within the financial services industry
  • 3-5 years of business analysis experience or equivalent in similar job role
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, psychology, or similar field
  • Understanding of unified modeling language (UML) for diagramming / modeling purposes
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication & strong relationship-building skills

Preferred Experience / Knowledge

  • Familiarity with the business analyst book of knowledge (BABOK) or similar industry-governed bodies of knowledge
  • Business process modeling and engineering (DMAIC, LEAN, 6Sigma) experience within large, complex organizations
