We break the infrastructure aspect of DevOps into administration and engineering.

  • The administration side has you configuring, patching, maintaining, and managing multiple DevOps environments based on client requirements. You also work with build controllers and services and deploy targets.
  • The engineering side of the infrastructure is going to have you installing and configuring production environments. Client’s will need your expertise on their ALM/DevOps strategy so you should thrive on talking through strategy.

The automation side of the job has you writing DevOps scripts and packages. You could be enhancing software applications with custom DevOps dashboards or delivering new features, functionality, and integrations.

You’ll configure and orchestrate container solutions, leverage build tools, and servers, and configure source code repositories.

Looking for a list of tools and things you’ll need to succeed in your new role? Here they are:

  • You’re familiar and comfortable with Azure. You understand the full system, including networking, security, monitoring, etc., on top of PaaS and IaaS.
  • You’ve managed DevOps environments for at least the past 2 years and are familiar with CI/CD methodologies.
  • You leverage scripting languages to become more efficient for over 5 years.
  • You have experience with Windows Server and IIS in addition to SQL Management Studio.

Now on to super extra credit.
