Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our growing Software Engineering practice. This is a client-facing, consultative role for someone who is passionate about software quality, automation, and building scalable testing solutions that accelerate software delivery.
In this role, you’ll work alongside developers, architects, product owners, and client stakeholders to design and implement modern quality engineering practices. You’ll build automated testing frameworks, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and help organizations improve software quality through automation and engineering best practices.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks, reusable libraries, and supporting tools
- Develop automated tests for functional, integration, regression, API, and performance testing
- Partner with development teams to define testing strategies, acceptance criteria, and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle
- Build automation using modern testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, or similar technologies
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid software delivery
- Perform API, database, and end-to-end testing across modern web applications and distributed systems
- Execute exploratory testing to identify edge cases and improve overall product quality
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues efficiently
- Develop and maintain test documentation, traceability matrices, and reporting to ensure comprehensive test coverage
- Participate in automation code reviews and contribute to improving testing standards and best practices
- Continuously enhance testing frameworks, tooling, and processes to increase automation coverage, scalability, and team productivity
- Evaluate emerging testing tools and technologies to improve engineering efficiency
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective testing strategies
- Contribute as an active member of Agile teams through planning, development, testing, and continuous improvement activities
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience as an SDET, Test Automation Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role
- Experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks for web applications
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, or similar technologies
- Programming experience with C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or another modern programming language
- Experience testing REST APIs and modern web applications
- Experience validating data using SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms
- Experience working within Agile development environments using Scrum or Kanban
- Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and modern software quality practices
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or equivalent
- Experience with regression, performance, and security testing methodologies
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business teams
Nice to Have
- Experience testing cloud-native applications deployed on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with mobile application or cross-browser testing
- Experience with accessibility testing and modern web standards
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or LoadRunner
- Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, or insurance
- Microsoft, AWS, Azure DevOps, ISTQB, or other relevant technical certifications
